How to Make a Picture Frame Kids room decor

For my daughter’s room I decided to add a little color to the walls with this hand-made quilt. I made this quilt for her a couple of years ago and wanted to make use of it so i decided to make a piece of art. With some extra wood in the garage I designed this piece.  It was a simple project. Took a couple of hours to complete and a great day project and added a little makeover.

  • Wood
  • Saw Machine
  • Drill bit
  • Screw driver
  • Screws
  • Sand Machine
  • Sand paper
  • Staple Gun
  • Primer Paint
  • Scissors
  • Silver Paint
  • Pair of Pliers
  • Paint Brush
  • Quilt
  • Twine
  • Picture frame holders
  • Staples

Step-by-Step How to do-it-yourself:

Step One: Cut wood to fit size of quilt piece. Next, drill two holes on both ends of outer wood pieces. Next take screws and drill the screws into the wood. Once picture frame is constructed follow next step.

Step Two: Prime the picture frame with white primer paint. Let dry for 15 minutes or until completed and apply a second coat.

Step Three: After primer is completely dried apply silver paint onto picture frame. Apply three coats allowing time to dry between each coat of paint before applying the next coat.

Step Four: After paint is dried. Set picture frame onto ground with painted side facing down toward the ground. Next set quilt piece on top of frame making sure the front of quilt is facing down and backside is showing. With Staple gun staple the quilt into the wood frame until quilt is firmly in place inside the frame.  HINT: Prior to beginning stapling pull material tight toward frame then staple.

Step Five: Cut excess fabric with scissors leaving some fabric about 1 inch then carefully fold fabric toward wood frame inside and re-staple all excess fabric pieces once more.

Step Six: Add picture frame holders to the back. To do this simply screw each hook in the back side. May take a pair of pliers to insert hooks all the way in properly.

Step Seven: Cut twine to fit picture frame in back. Leave about 5 inches handing on each hook to wraparound. Do this two times wrapping second piece of twine around the first for a snug fit.

Final Result:
