Day 1: Bass Drum Project

Day 1 Before Photo

The Bass drum was spray painted gold and looks like it was in the process of being sanded down but, was not complete when I got it.

Step 1: Sanding the Bass Drum, I started by sanding the main parts of the Bass drum where the wood was accessible.

Then with the Sand Machine I sanded off as much of the spray paint off the metal pieces surrounding the bass drum then finished sanding each by hand.  Here are some photos of the pieces and some of the sanding process….

So far looking good….

Next Step: I have to find sand paper that can brush up the metal to give a nice polished look to the metal pieces and figure out if I’m going to stain or paint this piece and then look for some retro legs to install on the bottom of the bass drum to turn it into a end table. I’m thinking 1960’s or 1970’s desk chair legs about 6′ to 8′ inches in length. Something retro 🙂
